Your Favorite Short Workouts
In both the spirit of procrastination (Roz, you have some competition!!!) and helping out others who have periods when they are really time-crunched, I want to have a thread devoted to short workouts. Short as in 30 minutes or less (give or take a minute or two ;) ). AND, I'm pre-nominating it for FAQ status. Here are some of my picks:
WHOLE VIDEOS: Crunch TurboSculpt, BootCamp, and Joy of Yoga Rodney Yee's Power Yoga for Beginner's tapes Firm Cardio Sculpt Blaster and Body Sculpt Blaster Baron Baptiste's Unlocking Athletic Power David Swenson's Short Forms (15 minute segment plus relaxation) EASILY BROKEN UP VIDEOS: Either half of Karen Voight's Strong and Smooth Moves Any 1/3 of Cathe's BodyMax |
My contribution to the list (in the interest of procrastination too - I don't feel like completing my co-workers' feedback forms):
Method Target Specifics - select two out of the four 15-minute segments NAC Interval Challenge & Measured Intensity KV's Sleek Physique/Burn & Firm - cardio + abs segments KV's Sleek Physique/Yoga Focus - yoga strength segment KV's Streamline Fitness - designed to be split! Margaret Richard's Getting Better - do either the upper body or lower body segment Gilad's Quick Fit series (strength) - 15-20 mins per tape Tamilee Webb's I Want that... series Hilary Burnett's Pilates Intermediate |
Possibilities
What about the following:
Charlene Pricketts' Women with Balls (2 1/2 hour segments) Cory's GHAS W/U and any one segment of Step Heaven or Hi Lo Heaven Bodybar Abs and Back MBS (if you ff the warm up stretch, and all the cardio :) - oh, and feel free to skip the abs... :)). Half of Millenium 3 - and its set up so you work alternating sides so's not to feel unbalanced Tae Bo Basics Hmm... that's all I can think of for now, but I was going to skip my workout today and now I realize I don't have any excuses ! Thanks Renee :) Charlene |
Here are some of my faves @ 30 minutes or less:
Strength--
Get Hard Arms and Shoulders (Cory Everson) Body Bar Basic Training (Sherry Catlin) Cardio: Tae Bo, Live, Basic (I believe they are all 30 minutes, with great music) Cathe's CTX series (can't say enough about these intense short cardios--just pick your favorite style and it's there) Easy to Split Up: Step Heaven (Christi Taylor; she puts a small PIP cooldown after each of the first two segments making them terrific 30 minutes stand-alones) Breakthru Core Conditioning Pilates Plus (do the Pilates, Yoga, or Ballet segments separately) I wish I had more good high intermediate/advanced workouts of this length and will check back here for more. Great thread, Renee. Elisa |
Charlene! Great minds think alike

Mine
Crunch bootcamp
Sleek Physique parts Body sculpt blaster (Firm) Or a do it yourself circuit that I do without a video (strength circuit) |
A couple more:
-Tamilee Webb's Tighter Assets Cardio Blast (love that one!) -Juliane Arney's Cardio Dance Floor II -Minna Lessig's Fat Blaster -Minna Lessig's Emergency Workout (broken up into parts) -Winsor Pilates Advanced Slimming -Kari Anderson's Curl -Kathy Smith's Timesaver Cardio and Lift Weights to Lose Weight offhand that is what comes to mind |
Kari Anderson's Body Tech or Danceworks can both easily be split into 2 separate sections.
For strength: Kathy Smith's Secrets Upper or Lower Body For intense workouts in a short amount of time: MIS or MIC split in half Any of the Crunch Fat Blaster series |
This is right up my alley
...because 30 minutes is all I do (M-F).
I really like Tamilee's new Motown tape (despite her singing) KV's Streamline Fitness (which I rescued from my trade pile after deciding to give it another chance) Firm's Cardio Sculpt Blaster any of Leslie Sansone's 2-mile tapes (quick and brainless) either of Tamilee's stretch videos Kathy Smith's Lift Weights to Lose Weight (despite her hysteria!) Ballaero videos Crunch Joy of Yoga any Ana Caban Pilates video (though that's pushing it to around 40 minutes) |
