OT - Tell me where you live and your favorite and least favorite parts about the area

Every morning for the last two weeks the temperature has been well below zero when I got up in the morning and I couldn’t help but wonder why I still live in this area. Tell me where you live and what you like and dislike about the area. I may move in next door.

Gams, I feel you! I'm in the southern part of MN and we haven't had a decent walk since Saturday morning and even that mile was pushing it for Cyric. We walk 2-3 times a day religiously but it has been too cold for his feet and my nose! In regular cold if I cover my nose with my scarf my glasses will fog up but then clear but in this terrible cold covering my nose makes my glasses actually frost over and there is nothing I can do about that till they warm up. I am extremely nearsighted and can't even clearly see my hand at the end of my outstretched arm without my glasses so when they get frosted I get terribly anxious, especially walking a highly reactive dog! But even considering all that I have no desire to live anywhere but MN. I love everything about it! Thankfully the extreme cold is only a few weeks out of the year most of the time. I don't like the heat and humidity in the worst parts of summer but pretty much anywhere else would be as bad if not worse so I try to suck it up and not complain. Hang in there! Our warmup is on the way!

ETA: It's up to -7 actual temp and real feel so we got to walk a mile! Felt good!

Ugh I feel your pain! I'm also in MN. I love the seasons here. This past week and a half has been brutal. I also like to walk my dog and I haven't walked her for more than a week. It's just too cold.

East side of the Phoenix metro area.

Favorite - winter. Also the dryness, I hate humidity. And we are a big metro area with plenty of shopping. Also close to mountains with forests and snow, and Southern California

Least favorite - summer, lol. But at least there is ac everywhere and it’s a dry heat. I’m more comfortable at a dry 105 than I am a humid 75. But I’m not used to humidity. Also, our home prices are climbing due to more people moving in.

I live on the Gulf Coast. I’m sick of heat, humidity, and hurricanes. I miss having seasons since it is hot here most of the year and our winters are usually mild. I’m enjoying having an actual winter this year and being able to use our fireplace. Once DH retires we plan to stay in the south, but move a little farther north of the coast.

I'm in northern NJ about a half hour west of NYC. I like our 4 seasons here, although I don't like winter and cold. However it is no where near as cold here as other parts of the country so I can usually tolerate it for a few months. I also like how centrally located we are here. Close to NYC (even though I won't be going there anytime soon), close to the ocean and beaches, close to mountains for people who like to ski. There's good restaurants, great medical care close by.

In addition to the winter, I don't like the high taxes and cost of living here. There's a downside to everything. Some day I would like to move somewhere that's milder all year round and not as expensive. Any suggestions? ;)

Grenada, Caribbean - hot and humid year-round
I love many aspects about living here, and as with everywhere, there are many things that I also dislike.

I love where I live! I’m in a semi rural community on the Salish Sea on Vancouver Island, west coast of Canada. I love the ocean and our long spring & fall seasons. It’s green here all year and although we do get a little snow on occasion, it usually lasts less than a week. Our climate is very temperate, no extreme cold or heat. Walking & hiking trails abound and lots of beautiful evergreen forests, parks, & beach walks as well. It can be a bit grey in the winter, and some people don’t like that, but for me the greenery compensates.

I live in northern California (but I grew up in Minnesota so I understand about the cold winters). It is never too cold here, but we still have four seasons. The things I don't like are fires and worrying about earthquakes. I lived in Hawaii for a few years in the past, and even there in "paradise" there were things I didn't like and things I loved. Every place has pros and cons.

bfit, what did you like and dislike about Hawaii?

I liked the Oregon coast, but I think it would be too expensive for me now.
