ABC announced the new cast for Dancing with the Stars yesterday on Good Morning America. Here they are

Sean Avery (former pro hockey player) - Karina Smirnoff
Candace Cameron Bure (Actress, Full House) - Mark Ballas
Drew Carey (actor, host - The Price is Right) - Cheryl Burke
Meryl Davis (Olympic gold medalist - pairs ice dancing) - Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Nene Leakes (The Real Housewives of Atlanta) - Tony Dovolani
James Maslow (actor/singer - Big Time Rush) - Peta Murgatroyd
Danica McKellar (actress, The Wonder Years) - Valentin Chmerkovskiy
Diana Nyad (swam from Cuba to FL) - Henry Byalikov
Amy Purdy (lost both legs to meningitis at 19, paralympic snowboarder) - Derek Hough
Cody Simpson (singer) - Witney Carson
Charlie White (Olympic gold medalist - pairs ice dancing) - Sharna Burgess
Billy Dee Williams (actor) - Emma Slater

Season 18 premieres March 17th.

I love Davis and White and think they are the most amazing ice dancing champions ever, but they have no business competing on dancing with the stars. :( They are so way ahead of the curve!!!!

I agree! It's absolutely ridiculous that they will be on the show. The same goes for all the other dancers the past season. I know that they'll be switching partners this season. Any idea how that will work? I'm not going to watch but I'm curious.

I agree too, and yet some people have said if no one dances well the show bores them. So maybe producers are playing to that. :confused:

There's a rumour, and I hope it's just a rumour and nothing more! that Len and Bruno may want to leave DWTS. Another rumour is that Julianne Hough might replace one of them as a judge if they do leave. Ugh. I can't imagine the show without them.

They've been judging for years. I can understand that they might want a change.

This show is getting predictable.

They don't want Cheryl or Derick to win this season.

I love Drew Carey. They always have one person that is going to be the comic relief.

I admire any person that can overcome a handicap or disease and rise to the occassion. Every season they have such a person. I'm beginning to think it's patronizing instead of inspiring.

Ice dancers on the show is not fair. Might as well bring in some amature ball room dancers. I don't think I'm watching this season.

I'm not sure how exactly the Switch Up this season will work, where viewers can vote to change the pairings at some point. But it sounds like there's no telling which celebs each pro will end up with. The list above is only the starting point.

Other changes coming this season: Erin Andrews will replace Brooke Burke-Charvet as co-host. And the Harold Wheeler Orchestra was fired in favor of a smaller band and more pre-recorded music. I can't wait for the start of the new season! :love:

Agree that Davis and White should not be competing.

Diana Nyad is one of my fitness idols, I'd love to see her do well.

I enjoy watching good dancing but I also agree about Davis and White not competing. They will probably say something like skating is different from dancing on the floor. But they still learned ballroom dancing. I do think they will be better at ballroom than Latin. And I still will enjoy watching them dance.

I look forward to watching Diana and Drew Carey because they will bring personality to their dancing. I'm also looking forward to Danica since I think she'll be good.

I think this switch up thing is suspicious. I think they gave Meryl to Maks to get him on the show. But later, there will be a switch and Derek will somehow end up with her or somebody else that's good.
