Cathe/KCM Style WO
I am starting to think that my body is craving a change in my workout approach. For the past 3-4 yrs I have been doing barre , Tonique, and TA style workouts.
I have been reading several of the threads related to Cathe and KCM. I purchased 3 DVDs (Lean Body Circuits, Muscle Up, Slim Sculpting) from KCM during her sale on Jan 1. I really like them but recently read comments here about her improper form. I don't know any different because of the type of WOs I have been doing at home and it has been YEARS since I have been in a gym! Would Cathe be a better instructor for a newbie to this type of WO? I have previewed ICE on Cathe's website and I think it looks great. Is there another instructor or series that you recommend for form pointers? Thank you! |
I'm very Cathe biased so I say yes for Cathe. Once you learn the proper lifting technique and you workout with someone who's not doing it correctly, as an educated exerciser, you know the proper way to do the move. ICE is a great series and I'm loving it. Her LIS is pretty good too. Cathe is always great on giving form pointers. She shows you what to do and what not to do. I love her for that. Good luck breaking into the weight lifting world. I love lifting and prefer it to doing cardio.

I agree - there is no better instructor for someone new to weight lifting than Cathe. Her form and her instruction are impeccable. I don't have ICE but have a lot of her older stuff, Xtrain, LIS, etc. and all of the strength workouts are good. My absolute favorite for form tips and instruction is quite old - Maximum Intensity Strength.

Another vote for Cathe! I love KCM cardio workouts, but the strength wos I've tried from her, had some creative moves, that I was sometimes concern that I was going to tweak something, I just did the regular version of those. I love both instructors though.

Ditto on Cathe. She is the form goddess. Not only her, but all of her backgrounders have very good form too...I highly recommend her workouts if you're new.

It sounds like Cathe is the way to go. Does anyone alternate both Cathe and kettlebells (specifically Lauren Brooks)?
Also, since I am late to the Cathe party...is there a specific step that is recommended? I have the additional weights covered already. |
I think they are both great for weight work. I have to say, no one works the butt and legs like Kelly. I don't know what it is about her lower body work, but I am always sore afterwards. It never seems like she does enough reps, but I really feel it the next day. My favorite Kelly's are Body Shop, Muscle Definition, Muscle Up and Weights.

You'll have fun with some Cathe workouts, but if you didn't want to spend money, you can search a lot of these exercises online. Bodybuilding.com is pretty good.

I workout to both Cathe & KCM but I have to say Cathe is my favorite. Her pointers are right on and her form is impeccable.
