Every Day in January 2020 - newbies welcome - join us for the month/year/decade!

We are a small group who aim to do some form of physical activity every day, whatever that means for YOU (but don't kid yourself about it either)

Daily posts - not manditory, nor even "sternly preferred" - but we love it if you do.
Weekly posts, drive-by notes, daily essays all about you.... any of those are perfectly fine - no pressure, EXCEPT to diligently try to add serious movement to your day - every day.

Lexicon:
WERD = Well Earned Rest Day, but even rest days can include movement ;)
TERD = Totally Expected Rest Day, though not especially well-earned, like a planned happy event :D
TURD = Totally Unexpected Rest Day, hopefully also a happy event
HERD = of TURDS - usually declared after the THIRD TURD in a row. ;) Try to avoid these at all costs, as they can move in & get comfortable, getting OUT of your comfort zone is the way to make change happen
If a HERD moves in, we bring out the whip to move it along.

If you're checkin-hunting because you're all motivated for a new year (hey! a new DECADE!), then being expected to do something EVERY DAY may be the consistency push you need.
NEWCOMERS ALWAYS WELCOME!

** WINTER TIP: Movement keeps you warm without burning fossil fuels. **
** SUMMER TIP: Just the slightest breeze on sweaty skin feels wonderfully cool.**

1/31
1/366 (it's a leap year)

Well, it's 11:20pm of the 1st, so day 1 is done.
dog walk, with Mechamix Aliasing 30min
Les Mills - Body Pump 59 48min, with buddy

Hope everyone has a fabulous start to their year.

LiliMagill 01-01-20 08:27 AM

Thanks for starting our New Year, Helen!
Congrats to Helen & Mena for doing EVERY day in December! I think I will aim for that this month.

No workout, yet, but I did just post to December's.

KayB 01-01-20 04:17 PM

Monday, I carried stacked firewood. It will be good for your knee dh said. The knee pain made me quit then I had to go in & ice my knee & my boobs. Ouch!

Dog walks & out my sewing room back together.

Today has been monitoring Ursella. She's drinking, not eating & looking puny. As long as she keeps drinking I'll keep watching her. Emergency vet is 90 minutes away. I'll have her at her vet when they open at 7 tomorrow.

LiliMagill 01-01-20 07:00 PM

Welcome back, Kay! I hope it's nothing serious with Ursula. Don't overdo it!

Today - I did 3 Strong Miles with Leslie followed by Margaret Richard's Unplugged, S20:E1. I haven't done anything by her in ages.

My goal is to do longer, if not tougher workouts this year. I have been giving myself a pass way too often.

Cleda 01-01-20 07:40 PM

Happy New Year All!

I still have to go back and finish reporting for December. (I did every day except the 2 days without power). :)

Goals for this month:
  • Every Day in January
  • Walk 1 mile (can be on the treadmill, elliptical, outside or bellicon) EVERY DAY . - possibly some running in there, but minimum ONE mile
  • Continue with meditation sessions (Kinda of like them and will try to stay awake for them)
  • Read a book, possibly 2 (again, need to see if I can stay awake for this!!!)
  • Listen to some motivational podcasts

So today's workout:

1/1/2020: Peloton 20 minute treadmill run/walk with Matt. I did my mile (and then some) requirement. Followed up with Emma's Coldplay Ride (on the bike) 30 minutes . I absolutely LOVE :love:that ride.

Kay: I hope Ur perks up some. I can relate to all of it.

Helen: Thanks for getting us started

Lili: Consistency is key (more so than intensity - although it's good to have a little bit of intensity each week.) :) Maybe a long session, a tough session and 2 others to your liking and then whatever you want?

Waves to Mena and anyone else reading.
Must go do the budget.

Happy New Year!!!
here's to the ROARING 20s.
A new decade.
Yeah baby! Bring it ....
Cleda

Helen 01-01-20 11:45 PM

KAY
Welcome home! What's up with Ur? :( What did the vet say?

LILI
Hope Bridget & I can get up to Delaware on our trip (see below).
I like Cleda's suggestion about stepping up the workouts - a nice balance between needs / wants.

CLEDA
That sounds more like you. :)
Who'd have thought you'd take to meditation?!?!
What motivational podcasts do you have lined up? I'm tiring of the pods I listen to, so much so that spent 3 hrs at work today (tossing stuff) and didn't put one on the whole time.

MENA & PAM
You're not here yet, but I'm CERTAIN you'll be back. :D

Oh Goals!
Lili isn't on FB so won't have seen it....

I'm planning a trip to the USA!! Specifically to meet as many imaginary friends as I can - just DD (Bridget) and me - DH will mind Alice. At the moment, thinking around Easter in 2021, so quite a while off yet. PM if you'd be willing to have us visit for a few hours (do a workout / go for a walk) so I can sort my route.

So... goal for 2020 - earn a fitness-based trip, by getting back to previous fitness levels!

That will happen if:
1) not only do workouts with buddy = 3x/week, but EVERY DAY (now that I know it CAN be done)
2) adjust diet accordingly, so I'm not carrying around a body-bag weighing too many kg!!

mena 01-02-20 09:44 AM

Wed 1/1 - Shiva Rea - Yoga Trance Dance (Energizing Flow premix)

Thu 1/2 - The Firm Parts - Lower Body Sculpting

I noticed that the strap on my ankle weights is ripping in the middle. I know it must be because I've abused the straps by being rough when taking them off. I've had them for 20 years if a day. I was thinking that maybe I could go to Joann or Michaels and buy some heavy duty Velcro and maybe the tailor at the cleaners could attach a new one? Does that sound feasible? I really love these ankle weights--they have little weights you can put in or out to adjust the weight. I feel like only you guys would be able to understand an attachment to exercise equipment :p.

Thanks for starting us off, Helen. You outdid yourself with the pics. I especially love the cat trying to catch snowflakes and the electrified 2020 sign.

Kay - Sending healing vibes to Ursella. I hope she will be o.k.

Lili - You're not the only one who knows they need to do longer workouts. I need to work on this too.

Cleda - Those are excellent goals for January. Good luck.

Helen - Planning a US trip--how exciting!! Lots of great cities to visit here especially New York (of course, I'm biased about that :p).

Waves to Pam.

Let's all have a great 2020 filled with lots of exercise and good health :D:D.

Helen 01-02-20 04:42 PM

2/31
2/366

Thu., 2-Jan Franny - Two Workouts with a Vengeance - Hilo Mix 51min
also spent 3 hrs at work tossing papers, shifting texts, & shoving furniture around.

LiliMagill 01-02-20 07:11 PM

Today was 2 Mile Miracle Walk with Leslie followed by Unplugged S20:E2. I have some sore muscles from yesterday's session with Margaret!

I tried to sign up for 6 months of streaming on Margaret's site, but the discount code wouldn't work. I tried every version of it that I could, but nothing. On top of that, they want to charge a $9.60 service fee! It's a streaming service, I don't get it. I tried to e-mail them, but I had an error message come back. I have enough Unplugged DVDs to last me, but the streaming includes the original music. Oh well, I thought her prices were high and obviously there are problems with her website.
I did sign up for a free week of Leslie's streaming and will probably continue with that, as it is very reasonable.

2/31

mena 01-03-20 10:22 AM

Fri 1/3 - Caribbean Workouts - Beach Pilates (Chi Ball and Dance Stretch segments). I lost control of my chi ball (not a real one--just a play ball from the dollar store) and it hit the wall and bounced back at me ! I never had that happen with any medicine ball/workout ball before--LOL.

Jan: 3/31
YTD: 3/366 (Stealing this idea of tracking the whole year here from Helen. It feels weird to write 366.)

Lili - Margaret's loss is Leslie's gain. It's annoying when a website doesn't act as it's supposed to though.

I hope everyone has a good weekend :).

Cleda 01-03-20 10:41 AM

Checking in

Good Morning Everybody!!!

Here to report my workouts. I can do the month, but not the year (I might add them up when the year is over ..... But it's way to overwhelming for me to do it that way. At least for now. As usual - I reserve the right to change my mind.)

Lili: Just not a good sign if you have that much trouble even trying to SIGN UP for streaming. So I agree with Mena - Margaret's loss is Lesie's gain. ;) Besides, that $9.60 service fee would TOTALLY TURN ME OFF. TOTALLY.

Mena: You and Helen just made me realize all my motivational things with how many days, hours, minutes are wrong for this year. oy .....

Helen: Years ago we met Franny at a conference (I think it was up in Cape Cod) or maybe Philly? At any rate, we then ran into her at a rest stop on the Parkway. Haven't seen her name in years. I will do a separate post of podcasts after this.

So on to me, me and all me.. . for the new year:

1/2/2020:
My one mile was on the elliptical (was almost 2 miles) and it was to Peloton's Broadway Hits with Matty. I followed it up with a 30 minute ride on the Peloton with Sam Yo. A New Year's recovery ride.

so ... I'm 2/31 for my walk a mile (and workouts)
I have to admit, my body was talking to me this a.m.

Waves to all.

yogapam 01-03-20 10:53 AM

Hello everyone!

Sorry to be MIA!

We had a busy few days over the New Year as we had our granddaughters for a sleep over and have rented our city condo for the month of Jan. We had to clear out or put away all our personal stuff and do a deep clean. I did something to my SI joint and my low back has been bugging me for the past week. I’ve been focusing on stretching it out and doing gentle movement. Sitting too much definitely makes it worse.

I finished off Dec with 29/31 days, but I never did finish posting them on the Dec thread. :o I’m pretty happy with that but my goal for Jan is 31/31. I’m still doing my 40 days of yoga and I’m on track with 13/13 so far. Congrats to Helen & Mena for every day in Dec!

January goals:
~31/31
~Daily yoga
~Less time online
~Daily study time for my level 3 Essentrics
~Pack at least one box a day for the upcoming move
~Daily reading from The Daily Stoic
~Healthy eating

Jan 1:
~Did some yoga & PT stretches for my low back & SI joint after my day of cleaning functional fitness.

Jan 2:
~Taught Essentrics
~JumpSport streaming: Level 1 Intro Cardio - This was short but moderately intense so I had to keep it low impact and modify a few moves. I was gifted a month streaming by my Secret Santa. It looks like a good site, lots of variety.
~Body Groove: Gentle Groovy Yoga - workout 1 - This was short and relaxing. I’ve been curious about it so I’m doing a month. It was a bit of a post holiday, lousy weather impulse buy, lol. I doubt I’ll do more than a month, I think many of the workouts are a bit too free form for me so I’m mainly interested in the yoga & Pilates.
~gentle hip/low back stretches....half frog, half apanasana on a block, reclined twist

Helen - Thanks for starting us off for the new month, new year, & new decade! I love the dogs on the air conditioner. How exciting you are coming to the US next year. Are you visiting several places?

Mena - I totally get wanting to fix your ankle weights, hope your solution works. I have a few pieces of fitness equipment I’d hate part with.

Kay - I hope Ursella is okay! Is she a cat or a dog...(I’m still a bit clued out on details). Hope your knees are better, carrying wood us hard work.

Lili - Sometimes online stuff can be frustrating, and the service fee is ridiculous! I have a bunch of MR’s downloads from a sale she had a while back. I quite like her & I should really do a rotation with them again. She is so cheerful & soft spoken as she kills you softly, lol. :p But it sounds like her streaming needs streamlining.

Cleda - I like your goals!

Waves to all!

Cleda 01-03-20 11:05 AM

Podcasts

As for Podcasts - I am a returning newbie. I used to listen all the time on my Ipod, but got overwhelmed with too many, auto downloads, etc. I'm having ipod issues these days as my ipod needs a new battery, I'll spare you all the tale of woe, but as a result, I'm not really using it. Fast forward to now and I put an app on my phone and am downloading only episodes I want to listen to. I'm trying to keep life simple and not get overwhelmed. Have a list I found somewhere (Probably did a google search?) But here they are (and I have only listened to one)

I am sure I found them through a google search. They are about self help, positive thinking and motivation. (I think!) lol.

Here they are (In no particular order):
  • Anthony Robbins
  • School of Greatness (Lewis Howes)
  • Lead to Win (Michael Hyatt)
  • Oprah (Super Soul Conversations)
  • Changeability (Kathryn Bryant & Julian Illmore)
  • TED radio hour
  • Mind Valley Podcast
  • Eventual Millionaires
  • Good Life Project
  • The One You Feed
  • Inspire Nation
  • No More Excuses Monday Motivation
  • Meaningful Work/Meaningful Life
  • The Motivation Report
These are jotted down from my search, so who even knows if I wrote them down correctly. But there you have it. I did listen to The One You Feed today. The episode I chose was interviewing the author BJ Fogg and his book Tiny Habits. I will also listen to his interview(s) with James Clear who wrote Atomic Habits. It seems to be all the rage on my FB groups.

If you have others or listen to any and have recommendations, I'm always eager for more. :)

Cleda

LiliMagill 01-03-20 06:10 PM

Cleda - thanks for the podcast list, although I don't listen as much as I used to. Most of the ones I listen to are knitting related, but they often include books and movies/tv show recommendations. Also, thanks for being as outraged as I was about the service fee!
Pam - glad to see you back! I've always loved Margaret for the same reason you gave! Also, she does a lot of floor work that doesn't aggravate my knees as much.

I feel like I need to make some monthly goals, besides every day in January.
DH and I are doing an anti-inflammatory diet this month. I've done it in the past, but he never made through lunch on the first day! We are on day 2 and he is hanging in there.
Reading more is on my year long goal list.
I'll have to give this some thought.

Today - a dog walk and 3 Miracle Miles with Leslie.

Helen 01-04-20 01:46 AM

CLEDA
Yes ! thankyou for the pod list. I only had Tony Robbins & the TED radio hour & I was familiar with James Clear (heard him speaking about his book on another pod - The Lucas Rockwood Show) so will explore the others.

GADGETS - I've been pondering a rebounder for ages. Always bemoaned that DH has tossed 2 (one I had for the girls when they were little & one that was Mother's). They were very heavy with springs, and it was long before I'd discovered YouTube Urban Rebounding. Eyed them at various sports stores but couldn't really justify the price, especially for one with bungy cord rather than springs, and big enough to do a proper wide-foot jack on, and with a handlebar.

Anyway.... One came up on FB Marketplace, just 30min drive away, and it fit the bill perfectly, only $50 and it looks brand new! DH is driving to Melbourne tomorrow to help Cait repair her motorbike. He'll be gone a few days, so whilst he's gone I have to find somewhere to keep it, ... unobtrusively. May need to rearrange the gym.:o

At my age, with now my first injury, kind of expecting joint issues (knees & hips) to begin happening, so I'm calling it preventative measures. ;)

LILI
From what I've heard about goal achievement, micro goals (atomic habits?) have the most success - the baby steps notion. I tend to go all-out, aim too high, and beat myself up with negative self-talk for not reaching the lofty heights I set myself. I DO know better. Sigh.....

PAM
I KNEW you'd be back! :D
Today, in particular, those dogs on the fan make me feel better. Not long been out to pick up the mini-tramp. It hit 106F and at 5:30pm it's still 100F.

Business
Fri., 3rd-Jan.
Oh YES, Lived up to those high expectations for at least ONE day. :o
am Cathe - CTX - Leaner Legs 51min
pm Cathe - XTrain - Chest, Back, & Shoulders 51min
___dog walk 1 hour

Sat., 4th-Jan.
nothing yet, don't know if it will either, given the heat - unless I do something from YouTube in the loungeroom (where the A/C is) - maybe start Adriene's 30-day yoga challenge?
ETA DONE Adriene - 30 days of Yoga - HOME - Day 1 around 10pm.

Just 31 miles west of Sydney, was 120F today!!!

Oh - Cathe's Step Boss arrived today! Have gathered the breakdowns and all are entered into my database (workouts / premixes / bonuses).

Cleda 01-04-20 06:33 AM

Love different time zones

As it usually means I wake up to a "Helen Post". :)

Helen: Congrats on a new-to-you rebounder. I am so excited for you. The bungees make ALL the difference in the world. I have had 2 with springs and haven't used one since I got the Bellicon (how many years ago?) I didn't even realize that Urban Rebounding was on you tube. I always forget to check You tube. D'oh! Keep us posted and do let us know what workouts you do. I'm always looking. And we are similar in our lofty goals and all that. But you knew that.

Pam: Looks like you and I were the same for our Dec. goals and along with others here, have the same January goals. We can do this! ;) (as long as my power stays on and doesn't go out for 4 days). I didn't realize JumpSport had streaming. I shouldn't even ask since I barely use my Bellicon site. But details are always welcome. ;).

Mena:
Yes! You came to the right place to mention your ankle weights. OF COURSE we understand. (I do not, however, have a solution. Sorry).

Lili: 2 books I put holds on at my Library that I want to read:
  1. Atomic Habits By James Clear
  2. Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg
Atomic Habits is one of those "buzz books" that many of my FB groups are talking about. I heard of the Tiny Habits through the podcast.

I made it to the library yesterday!! WOW. But even more surprising is I found ONE of the books on my list of 5 that they had. Usually they have nothing, I get frustrated, come home, buy it and put it on my Kindle. I found another book I think I may have wanted to read somewhere along the line also. Sooooooooooooooo I came home and started reading Last Christmas in Paris and I'm enjoying it. It's written in letter format and reminds me of Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (which I enjoyed also!)

On to me, me and all me:

1/3/2020: (I still keep typing 2019 and have to go back and change it to 2020. I have no problems WRITING it, but for whatever reason, typing it is not coming easily to me. I think it's a cool year btw. And I LOVE writing it.!!!) Treadmill - for 1.5 maybe 1.9 miles. I made my goal of one mile, so that's good. I started out doing one of the programs (that I put in, no higher than 10 on incline and no faster than 4 mph) then it's intermediate and the treadmill gives me the program. Didn't like it . Hit 10 incline at 3.7 mph and I wasn't comfortable. Bailed and will change it for next time if I'm going that high on incline, I have to cap the speed. But I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone on the treadmill. This was good. I then went to the "Track" interface where I put in my (hoped?) speed ... and I have a pacer that I have to follow/catch, pass whatever!!! I had fun with that and I got the rest of my mileage in. I figure I might as well use the programs on the console. That's what they are there for. Still having Ipod woes, barely made it through the walk. I followed it up with a 45 minute heart rate zone training ride on the bike. (With Jennifer Jacobs - an instructor who is no longer with Peloton) It was supposed to have a Bruce Springsteen song in it, it didn't. I went the whole 45 minutes just waiting for Bruce and he never showed. :( could have something to do with the music thing, but usually they get rid of the whole ride ... anyway ... not my favorite ride.

I work today so it's off to maybe get my mile in before heading into the office. Tonight is my work Christmas party also.

That's it. (and it's plenty!)
Make it a great day!
Cleda

LiliMagill 01-04-20 04:51 PM

Today - 1.5 mile treadmill run followed by Unplugged S20:E3. I had planned on running longer, but the adjustment to the new diet is leaving us both fatigued, which is normal.
4/31

I tried the Jumpsport streaming and didn't care for it. I liked Bellicon better. Of course, your mileage may vary. It's worth a shot for the free trial period. I didn't realize that Urban Rebounding was on YouTube! I've been meaning to pull out my one UR DVD, now I have options!
Helen - I'm hope you enjoy your new toy! I started out with an Urban Rebounder, then had a cheap one, then decided to ask for the Jumpsport when it went on sale many Christmas' ago. The quiet of the bungees is so much nicer than the springs.
Between the fires and the high heat, Australia has been in the news here quite a bit. It looks devastating. Stay safe and try and stay cool.

Helen 01-05-20 05:14 AM

5/31
5/366
Starting to feel the holidays slipping away. Only 3 weeks left!
DH drove to Melbourne today to deliver the little Corolla to Cait so I'm alone (with Alice though) but only for 3 days.

Sun., 5th Jan. with buddy, so a bit easier
Gilad - Best of Bodies in Motion - 1100 Series - Eps 1,2,3 65min

Didn't realise the bungies made the rebounder more quiet - thanks for mentioning it.

LILI
>> Saved Playlists << I've saved some playlists of only minitramp workouts from other channels. They'll be obvious on the link (I hope).

CLEDA
Your work's Christmas party?! More like a New Year's party now.

Cleda 01-05-20 08:48 AM

Checking in

It's Sunday! I need a day of rest today (from life, not exercising - that would never get me to my "every day in Jan" goal if I took off.)

Helen: Thank you for sharing your playlists. So helpful. I snagged a couple to put on my rebounder list. I will go back and try them. (I should look and see what I have in my rebounding list as I'm sure I just throw video after video in there.) Organization is not my strong point. AND by listening to the benefits of rebounding, makes me want to get back to it a little more. Thank you!!! For talking it up and bringing it back to front and center. Like Lili - every time I hear of the fires I think of you. :( And it's in our news over here just about daily now.

Lili: I do enjoy my Bellicon home subscription. They have added quite a few new videos since I was there last. I did a couple yesterday. I would like to add more in. I am back to "beginner" status (and I'm ok with that) cuz most of the bouncing just feels good! Get rid of that lymphatic build up. ;)

Waves to Pam, Mena, Kay, Susan, Daphne and anyone else who may be reading!

1/4/2020: Bellicon 2 workouts. One was a dance workout (20 minutes) and the other one was a nighttime unwinding one or something like that. I am counting them as my mile walk. As I got in about 2500 steps (2000 is a mile for me) and it's part of the deal with myself. (One mile treadmill, rebounder, walking outside, elliptical ... just extra variety). I did follow it up with a 10 minute arm workout (Peloton) with my gal Christine.

So I'm 4/4/ on my one mile a day.
I am 4/4 on workouts in January.
I am 30 days straight on the Peloton app.
I've just passed 52 weeks with Peloton (app).
I just earned 2 new badges from Bellicon.

Why oh why do silly little badges make me so happy?

New Years/Holiday/Christmas party was fun. We left about 12:30 a.m. Myself and my coworker (other desk lady!) came in second place on the table shuffleboard. (Cash prizes!) YAY me ... Last year dh and I also came in 2nd. My bosses can throw one heck uva party. :D

Ok, gotta get busy doing nothing. Time to go read with my morning coffee.
Make it a great day!
Cleda

Cleda 01-05-20 10:16 PM

Not sure

I'll be checking in tomorrow (long day at work, etc.) so I'll reply to myself. ;)

(Makes shout outs easier) ha!:D

1/5/2020: By golly, I think I have the 2020 down pat now. Only took 5 days of checking in. ;) I did Cardio Coach Volume 1 (with the last interval done twice) for my mile. Treadmill (ended up being 2). And I followed it up with a "Rock Ride" with Sam Yo - 45 minutes and a pretty impressive graph if I do say so myself!!! A quick 5 minute stretch after.

Now it's off to bed to get rested for work tomorrow.

Make it a great day.

Hello everyone, I’m still here....

Jan 3:
~Essentrics Precho 9 - standing segment
~Body Groove Fit: workout #1
~Gaia: AM Yoga For Your Week Standing Poses

Jan 4:
~Essentrics Precho 9 - standing
~JumpSport streaming: Level 1 Cardio SanFran Fitness, 15 min only - This was a bit too fast paced and higher impact than my low back is ready for. My back is better, but not 100% yet.
~Headstand practice - have been missing my bench!
~Gaia: AM Yoga For Your Week, Twists - My low back & SI loved this one

Jan 5:
~Essentrics PCW 9 - all
~4 km walk
~Body Groove: Groovy Pilates - this was nice, but it felt more like ballet than Pilates
~Headstand practice
~Gaia: AMY4YW: Hip Openers - love the seated flow in this one

Cleda - I’ve started following Jay Shetty on IG and FB. I really like him, he is very much about positive thinking and self care. I believe he does podcasts.

Lili - I agree that the JumpSport site is not as good as Bellicon so I won’t be renewing. I think I’ll go back to free styling it on my reboubder while I watch BritBox. I’ve wondered about the anti inflammatory diet as I do have some joint issues. Do you feel it helps?

Helen - Nice score on the rebounder, I hope you enjoy it!

Waves to all!

Re: Podcasts - I would sort of like to get into some podcasts, and I know that there is literally something on every topic imaginable. However, I know myself and I would never be able to keep up with listening. There is just soooooo much out there (books, tv, social media) to keep up with. It's overwhelming really. I know I'm missing out on some good stuff.

It looks like everyone is off to a great start for the year :D.

Glad the playlist was useful to you. CC1? There's a memory! Been years since I've regularly used those, and the iTrains too.

Badges - even seniors at school like getting stickers. :D

It's Tuesday... and cool but super humid - woke up to heavy fog and wet skin. Not sure what I'll be doing today, not planned it yet - that'll be the first thing I do. :D

Helen - I heard that statistic about Youtube before and was floored! I used your link today to find some rebounder workouts.
Pam - So far we haven't seen any improvements, but we are only on day 5 of a 30 day program. We are still in the you're going to feel tired & angry stage. I have done it before, a few years ago, and didn't notice any difference in my knee arthritis, but eventually I had more energy and felt better overall. I'll keep you posted.
Cleda - way to keep up!
Mena - good luck with every day for 2020! That sounds overwhelming to me, but with a variety of workouts and intensity levels, I'm sure it can be done.

1/5 - 4 Miracle Miles.
1/6 - Dog walk, then I started a UR from Youtube that had dance in the title. Unfortunately, it was led by the background exerciser from Intermediate UR who drives me crazy. I lasted 8 minutes and switched to SanFran Fitness 25 Minute something. I didn't always keep up, but I enjoyed the moves.

Tues 1/7 - Cathe - Low Impact Step. I know this is Cathe's idea of a beginner step workout, but it always winds me. I feel kind of embarrassed about that :o.

Helen - That's a crazy statistic about YouTube. I believe it though.

A 91-minute workout today??!!!! You're an Amazon :p;)!! Great job.

Waves to Everyone :).

It was ONLY from ICE, with emphasis on the Intermediate - have been consistently surprised how UN-tough this set is. ;)

As to getting winded - that's being told where you need to focus. Bodies are quite informative like that - which can be annoying....

The mother of Ur is back. To make a long story shorter. I got tired of watching & waiting so on Saturday when I took Ur to potty & she promptly vomited her chicken & rice I loaded her in the car & took her to the emergency clinic in Knoxville. They repeated the ultrasound & she definitely has a mass in her abdomen. They wanted to keep her until the specialist would be in on Monday. We'll, the vet called me in the middle of church saying decisions needed to be made. I left church crying in the middle of the service. They did aspirates of the fluid in her belly & they were full of bacteria. The surgeon was called in & he removed the mass. He said it was a huge necrotic mass that was rotting & disintegrating. It was where the small intestine meet's the large intestine so he had to remove parts of both. Anxious, anxious days. Dh hadn't gone to church so I sat there all alone. Surgeon gave her a 75% chance of survival. We'll ..today we picked her up & brought her home.

She's not out of the woods totally. She's on multiple antibiotics & pain meds. There is always the chance the intestines won't heal. She is so scrawny, bruised & shaved, but the light is back in her eyes. There's hope. I'm exhausted!

Helen 01-07-20 09:18 PM

Oh GOSH Kay, I'm SOOoooooo sorry for Ur (welling up myself here). Thinking of you both.
75% is good though!

(((((((HUUUGGGGGSSSS)))))))))

~a lovely long yin yoga stretch on my own at bedtime

Jan 7:
~taught Essentrics, debuted a new routine with new music & it was a hit :)
~Headstand practice
~Yin yoga class

Kay - Sending lots of healing thoughts to Ur. 75% sounds very promising. (((Hugs)))

Mena - My husband is really into podcasts, has his favourites which are very science based. Nice Cathe week!

Lili - I’m interested to hear how you feel after you’ve adjust to the diet.

Helen - 91 minutes is very impressive....you definitely are an Amazon!

Waves to Cleda!

Helen 01-08-20 02:28 AM

PAM
Could you ask your husband, please, to name (just a few) of his 'can't do without' science pods?

I have:
60 Second Science
60 Second Mind
Brain Stuff
Dr Karl
Great Moments in Science
Hidden Brain
You Are Not So Smart
All In The Mind

Essentrics - do you design your own routine & choose the music or it more like Les Mills where the whole thing is prepared for you & you need only to learn it (not that it's the easy bit)? Imagining that it's time consuming either way.

Don't want to fall behind

I love the community, where we can feed off each other and get ideas. (Talking podcasts now!) Thanks for sharing Helen! (although knowing me - they are probably WAYYYYY too deep and intellectual for me.) But I bring cheerleading to the board!!! We all have our strong points. :D

Mena: I never got that! Low impact does not mean easy and doesn't matter what cathe I do, I work! Be proud!!! ;)

Helen: I had NOOOO idea about that statistic for You Tube. All I can think of is: My how times have changed. Love when you share tidbits. That's crazy. I keep thinking of you when I hear about all the fires. Elton John doing his part, the rain is supposed to come in, all the animals that have perished, all the human life lost. :(

Kay: I'll Keep rooting for Ur. You are the best Dog mama going!!!! Have been thinking about you a lot!!

Waves to Lili, Pam and everyone else who is lurking.

On to me, me and all me:

1/7/2020: I was drawn to the Peloton (big surprise!) and I chose Ally Love. I've never done any of her rides and I don't know why, but I clicked on one of her "Sundays with Love" from Ally. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very spiritual, so it's not for everyone, but it was JUST what I needed. Her word for the ride was COMMITMENT!!! How appropriate (since yesterday was day 1 of my program!) It really did my soul good. I then went on to a 10 minute cool down ride with Christine, again - it was great for my soul. And then did my mile on the treadmill while listening to "Food We Need to Talk" podcast!!! Done, done and done.

I STILL continue to get doms from the mile on different equipment. I'm sure it's variety that's doing it. Or who knows? But I am anxious to see what a month of a mile a day + my other workouts + a good diet will reveal ... Stay tuned. Roaring 20s are my year(s). :)

That's it for now. I'm off to exercise.
Make it a great day.
Cleda

PS ... 7/7 workouts, 7/7 mile a day, 2/10 podcasts, 54 week streak on Peloton, Going for a 45 day streak on Peloton (just passed 30 on Sat. )

Wed 1/8 - The Firm BSS1 - Ab Sculpt

Jan: 8/31
YTD: 8/366

Kay - I'm happy to hear that Ursella is back home. 75% is good odds. Sending healing vibes her way. Maybe tell her that there is a trip to the dump in her future--that should perk her right up ;).

Cleda - 54 weeks streak on the Peloton is impressive. I don't think I would be able to keep interest in one piece of equipment for so long. I would say you've gotten your money's worth for sure!

LiliMagill 01-08-20 06:25 PM

Cleda - I agree with Mena, the Peloton was an excellent investment for you! :D
Kay - glad to hear that Ur is back home and on the mend. I am hoping for a full recovery! What an ordeal for you, though. Hang in there.
Waves to Pam & Helen!

1/7 - another 3 mile walk from Leslie's site. I always forget the names. :o
1/8 - Unplugged S20:E4 and 1 Mile Walk & Talk with Jessica.

yogapam 01-09-20 12:22 AM

Today’s offerings:
~Essentrics TV: Sasha’s new Full Body Toning & Energizing Workout: I liked it, but I didn’t love it. The first trademark is complex & very shoulder intensive. I’ll do the floor & barre another day.
~100 kettlebell swings - Vantreesta posted this 7 day KB challenge on GD. I would not do them 7 days straight, but I’d like to fit them 2 or 3 times a week. http://www.forum.videofitness.com/sh...d.php?t=227258
~20 min freestyle rebounding
~Headstand practice
~Yoga Collective: Front & Back - This was very nice....all standing poses with long holds & attention to form

Helen - My DH’s fave is Star Talk with Neil deGrasse Tyson, an astrophysicist & a director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City. Neil is very entertaining! He also likes Brian Green, an American theoretical physicist, mathematician, & string theorist (whatever that means, lol.....:p).

Cleda - Yes I agree with Mena & Lili that your Peloton was an excellent health & enjoyment investment! My most used piece of equipment is my 6’ round yoga mat, lol, as I use it pretty much every day. :D

Waves to all!

Thu 1/9 - Jessica Smith WS3 - 1 mile motivation walk and total stretch for 30 minutes total.

Jan: 9/31
YTD: 9/366

Re: Neil deGrasse Tyson - I love him! DH and I saw him live with a show he was doing just talking and it was so entertaining and informative. One of the things DH and I wanted to do before leaving New York was go to the planetarium but sadly we didn't get to it. Hopefully, we can go on a visit back.

I've always loved planetariums since I was a kid because the school district I went to had a tiny planetarium in the middle school. All the elementary schools would go and see shows there. Well, back in my day they did (70s/early 80s).

Thanks Pam, with those pods & Cleda's list, I have some listening (and deciding) to do!

LiliMagill 01-09-20 06:34 PM

Today - I signed up for Les Mills streaming, starting their 10 day free trial. I did a Body Pump w/o for beginners and an 18 minute Upper Body one. I really like the music in these.
